Trending Summer Colour: The Blues

Whenever we think of summer, we immediately think of warm tones: reds, pinks, yellows and oranges. We think of flowers and sunsets, or even the green grass. We tend to neglect the cooler tones, and think they are only suitable for winter and fall. However, the Blues are actually absolutely trending this summer! The tones Electric Blue (dark blue) and Cerulean (light blue) are beautiful colours for this summer! Don't forget about the beach waves and the blue sky! So, why not try to rock the Blues this summer for your dates?

If you don't want to go all out and wear a top in Electric blue, try the following blue pieces- they can totally draw attention to your outfit!

Mini Travelling Date to Taiwan: Summer Outfit Ideas

So summer is here! Nothing can be more exciting than going on a trip with your best friends! I went on this mini trip with my friends to Taiwan last summer as a 'graduation trip' as we finished highschool. We went to both Kenting and Taipei, and enjoyed the best of two worlds. Kenting is famous for the sun, the beach and watersports. The water is so clear and the grass so green- cliche but true. We were also lucky to see a rainbow whist we were at the beach! I've previously been to Taipei a few times and it is famous for food. Plenty of small cute restaurants and street food. The city is crowded but friendly at the same time. The trip was so fun and I felt incredibly blessed!!

My favourite photo from the trip!

Outfit

These are my two favourite outfits that I think would be great for summer trips!

1. The first outfit is simple tanktop and shorts that you can wear almost every day in the summer. The straw hat is essential in this outfit as it puts you in the holiday mood!

2. The second outfit is a maxi floral dress! It has a low high cut so much easier to walk with, how can you not tell that summer is here when you see the bold flowers? :D

Straw Hat from a shop in Taiwan
Shine Bright Like a Diamond tanktop from Forever 21
Black shorts from Lowry's Farm
Ipanema Flip Flops that broke really quickly :(

Floral Dress from Forever 21

What to Do1. Don't live in a hotel in the city but enjoy the sun in a resort! A good resort also have great quality service as hotels. Living in a resort allows you to breathe some fresh air and get away from our daily life hassles! These cute little houses each contains 2-3 big double beds, an en-suite bathroom, a TV and a small sofa- basically everything you need!

2. Go to a beach. This is a must!

3. Take some fun photos! This third photo is where we went on some sort of 4WD car (the one in my picture on top) and was driven to see the beauties of Kenting. The driver took us to this big piece of grassland and asked us to jump in different poses. It was a bit awkward at first but we all found it so fun and memorable! Definitely better than taking a photo just standing there!

4. Visit a small cafe. The best food doesn't always come from big, classy restaurants, especially in Taiwan. Taiwan is famous for having small little cafes, each with their own style and absolutely delicious food.

Favourite Urban Decay Products

Urban Decay has always been one of my favourite make-up brands! It's not as easy to purchase it in the UK compared to other brands, but you can get hold of them in House of Fraser and various online shops :) Here's my favourite Urban Decay products!

Urban Decay RollerGirl Nail Polish
These nail polish are stunning! The shimmery colours are perfect for special dates and occasions such as prom, while the bright pinks are great for summer!

 Urban Decay Anniversary Palette
This Urban Decay was gifted by a friend for my birthday. The cover is a purple mirror which is extremely enchanting. The detail on the sides of the box are also really pretty! The colours in this palette are all shimmery with no matte colours. It also has more vibrant shades, probably not suitable for day to day make-up but for parties!

Urban Decay Naked Palette
I don't think I have to say much about this product, it's one that almost every girl own! The palette has mostly neutral shades, and the matte shades such as naked and buck are really good as a base for your eye make-up! My favourite colours are sin and sidecar! If you're starting to try putting on eye shadows or building up your make-up collection, this palette is a must! It has most of the shades for use and the colours compliment each other extremely well!

Urban Decay Eye-shadow Primer
We all know about the typical, purple bottled Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion, but this coloured one is a bit more special! Not only does it have the same effects as the normal Primer, but it also has a hint of colour. The one I love the most has the shade in Sin (Naked Palette colour). As I love using this colour on my palette a lot, it's very convenient for me to use this primer directly instead of applying primer and then the shade. This primer works well on its own like a cream shadow as a well!

Let me know what's your favourite Urban Decay product!

Mini Travelling Date to Harry Potter Studio Tour!

Although the Harry Potter movie series has already ended for a while, I am still a big fan of it! I've recently visited the Warner Brothers Harry Potter Studio Tour with my friend after our uni exams. You MUST GO if you're a big fan of Harry Potter, but it is equally worth going if you've only watched some of the movies. The studio tour was not only about knowing more about the Harry Potter series, but how it was created, and you get to witness the hardwork from the crew behind the scenes! We often give the most credit to the actors and actresses when we watch a movie, and in the HP case also J. K. Rowling, but we rarely recognise the sweat and tears from those who helped created this magical world.

Not a second of the trip was boring, it was both fun and interesting, it's like going to a theme park but also a museum at the same time! The staff were really friendly, and there were a lot of kids there. It was surprising to know that the parents were incredibly knowledgeable about Harry Potter! You can possibly go there with any friend or family member that has watched or read the Harry Potter series- and I guarantee it will be the best date ever and you will have lots of fun!

Here are a few fun facts/ things that happened during my visit!

#1: The Shuttle bus starts playing HP music when you're almost there!

#2 There is a room full of wands with the names of every person that took part in the production.

#3 The boxes of wands in the Ollivander shop were not photoshopped, but each one of them hand crafted.

#4 You get to ride on a broomstick!

#There's about 10 million other things that was fun about this trip... but I better not expose them all and leave you to explore during your dates there :)

Outside the studio
Hogwarts Castle
The Heroes of Gryffindor
The Room of wands with names of everyone who took part in the Production
Harry Potter's Room
Fighting a death eater!

Perfect Lipstick for a Date/ Drugstore Lipstick Review!

We all know that your eye makeup and outfits are essential to dates- but not a lot of people realise the importance of lipsticks as well! Lipsticks represents all sorts of personalities; and a good lipstick is even more important on a date night so that it doesn't smudge or stain! I've been using a couple of affordable drugstore lipsticks and here are a few that are perfect for dates!

Rimmel Kate Moss Lipstick in 03

This nude colour lipstick is perfect for a first date. This neutral colour suggests that you are a gentle and elegant person. It is also suitable if you have bold eye make up!

Rimmel Lipstick in Lily Extase

This beautiful, bright pink colour is for those who are wild and fun! It is probably suitable for a girls date where you try new styles and make-up. This bold lipstick is however, not very long-wear and require quite a lot of touch-ups.

Maybelline Lipstick in Are you Red-Dy

As it's name suggests, this lipstick is for those who are RED-DY for some fun! Super long-wear with a bold colour which is suitable for all skin types. I will definitely wear this to a party night!

Maybelline Lipstick in Neo7

If the previous few lipsticks all seem too red or bold, this one is for you. This sheer pink lipstick is for the cute and girly ones out there. <3

 Revlon Lipbutter in Macaroon

An extremely smooth and moisturising lipbutter with a hint of colour that gives life to your every-day makeup! Suitable for a daily basis and when your lips are dry!

Revlon Lipstain in Lovestick Passionate

Saving the best for last. My favourite drugstore lipstick since it's out! Extremely durable with vibrant colours. This is probably an alternative to the Rimmel Lipstick. The only downside is that this lipstain has a weird smell :P

Hope this review helps you a little when picking the perfect lipstick for a date! Also, remember what's more important is to be yourself, and your personality will shine through! :)

Enjoy your Date!

Soulmate Foods 3 Day Juice Cleanse: Before, During, After

During my easter holidays, I felt really tired and stressed with the upcoming exams... and really wanted something to rejuvenate my body so I can feel more healthy and motivated. I've researched various methods, tried to eat healthier and did some home work outs. They worked pretty well and I know I will feel better in the long term, but that's when I saw something called Juice Cleanse. If you don't already know what Juice Cleanse is, companies make these juices for you to drink instead of having meals. You do not eat any solid food but only drink such juices (fruit or vegetable made) and water for a few days (depending on your programme; mine was 3 days). People do it for different reasons, some mainly for health reasons and some to lose weight at the same time. Not eating anything for 3 days seems really scary at first, but I still decided to give this cleanse a try, since well... I was too bored from revision. I am also going to weigh the pros and cons of the cleanse and my thoughts and suggestions for anyone who is interested but is skeptical about it :) I hope this will help!!

Before
There is not a lot to do at the preparation stage for the cleanse. This is not a compulsory stage and is up to you! I've always hated vegetables and fruits in my life, while loving meat and junk food, and I was worried that my body could not adapt to not eating anything for 3 days. If you're someone like me, I would recommend preparing for the cleanse. My cleanse started on a Monday, and so I started preparing on the Thursday before. During those few days, I tried to drink a lot more water and ate more fruits (because I still hated vegetables), as well as cutting down carbs and meat so my body won't feel so bad during the cleanse.
One day of Juice

During
Juice Cleanses are often really expensive, and so I've looked at various companies and decided to try Soulmate Foods' 3 Day Fruit Juice Cleanse. They always have discounts on groupons, so it's good to wait for it. For me, the only cleanse that was available on groupon at that time was a vegetable juice; and because I hated vegetables and didn't want to give up mid-way, I paid full price for the fruit juice cleanse. The cleanse arrived early in the morning in a box with some dried ice. I opened a box and saw 18 juices! You are supposed to drink 6 juices a day and 1 every 2 hours.

The first day was really easy, because you get excited about the different flavoured juices. They all tasted really good, but were very sweet. I had to drink water every few sips and so I end up drinking 2L of water every day. I suggest using a big water bottle instead of glasses so you can actually know how much water you've drank and feel a little more proud of yourself :)

I woke up the second day much earlier than I normally do, feeling really energised and ready for the second day! It was a bit harder than the first day, with myself looking at the clock and setting alarms on my phone hoping for the next juice to come. I was really unproductive that day because all I was thinking about was when's my next juice. I also became really tired that night, feeling that I don't have much strength and went to bed really early.

The last day was the hardest!!! I still woke up feeling energised, and I think the juices makes you sleep really well. However, the day felt ever so long and I just kept staring at the clock for the whole day. When my boyfriend eats next to me, I even begged him for a bite of the food, which didn't happen in the previous days. I don't think I was hungry, the juices were actually really good of keeping you full. But I just couldn't resist this inner feeling of wanting to bite something, savoury especially because the juices were so sweet. Despite the crave, I still managed to resist the temptation and finished all my juices that night!

Results and Thoughts
The Juice Cleanse gave me a really good feeling afterwards, I feel so so so much cleaner and healthier, and always wanted to drink more water. I've lost a total of 4 pounds (near 2kg) after the three days, and was really happy about the result. However, many  have suggested that the Juice Cleanse mainly takes off the water from your body, and not actually weight- a point which I strongly agree!!! I think that we can all probably achieve a similar result from eating really little or just drinking a lot of water for 3 days, instead of paying £150 for the cleanse. Yet, I do not believe that I could have achieved the same results by myself, because I would have given up really quickly after the first day. The main reason why I didn't give up was thinking that these juices were so expensive, and I really had no choice but to stick to it. The process was tough, and much harder than I thought it would be, so the fact that I finished it made me feel so much better about myself, realising that I do have the determination to accomplish something so difficult!

Seeing these empty bottles felt AMAZING!
I think the Juice Cleanse is worth a try if there's a discount on groupon (because the delivery and process was really convenient for lazy people like me), but I wouldn't recommend getting it if paying the full price for it. I know a lot of people make their own juices and that is definitely an alternative way to the cleanse your body! You can definitely get similar results and feel the determination by making your own juices (probably much cheaper as well)! Simply changing up your lifestyle by drinking more water and sleeping early will already improve your body and help weight loss! Also, as I have said, the Cleanse mainly takes the water off your body, so you can easily add the weight back on if you are not careful with what you eat after the cleanse. You are not supposed to eat too much solid food in the first few days after the Cleanse. The Cleanse, although only three days long; requires a long-term commitment for the results to last and maintain!

Here are some of my personal suggestions of what I ate after my cleanse. You can eat these as breakfast or dinner, but I would recommend having a slightly heavier lunch to keep you moving through the day! You also don't have to be in after a juice cleanse to try these! They can be made easily, keeps you full and are delicious!

1.Fresh Fruits mix: Just a mix of chopped strawberries and apples or any fruits you like. A box of strawberries costs around £2 from Marks & Spencer, and the Pink Lady Apples about £1.50 for 4 (you only need one or half!)

2. Home Made Fruit Parfait: A mix of strawberries or blueberries with Jordan's Granola (£3 for one big box) and some Rachel's Vanilla Yoghurt.

3. Omelette: If you feel like eating a bit more; try an omelette made by 2 eggs, a few slices of smoked salmon and some corn!

Also remember to drink a lot of water! I hope this post lets you know a little bit more about the Juice Cleanse! Feel free to ask me any questions about it!

Half-Year Anniversary Date

In May, my boyfriend and I have been together for half a year. Since uni exams were coming up, we decided not to spend time looking and buying each other gifts but to invest into a delicious meal for our date night. We've always wanted to try a tasting menu together, and so researched for various restaurants before deciding to make a reservation at Alain Ducasse at The Dorchester. The food was absolutely delicious, with high quality service as well. I would definitely recommend going there for dates and celebrations!

Outfit

This dress is quite hard to describe; some of my friends says it has a hint of Chinese style, and some say it doesn't. I fell in love with this dress immediately when I saw it on the ASOS website. The cutting was perfect and makes your waist looks smaller, while the skater flare can help hide my legs a bit which is the part I'm most insecure about my body. This dress is a bit mature for my age, but I guess that is why we love dates- because we can dress up and wear clothes we wouldn't wear on a daily basis and pretend to be a bit older!

P.S. Sorry for not showing my feet in this photo! I wore a pair of black strapped heels which I borrowed from a friend on the date night. However, I think this dress would look even nicer with a pair of nude stilettos :)

Dress by Closet

Accessories
In terms of accessories, I limited them to a few because I didn't want them to catch the attention away from the bold, floral dress. These accessories were also ones which I bought together with or gifted by my boyfriend and so it signifies our memories together.

Rose Gold Ring from Just 925 (Hong Kong)
Links of London Charm Bracelet

Food
Again, the food was amazing and definitely worth trying. My favourite dish was the lobster pasta (top middle photo) because it was very creamy and the pasta was also of a really interesting texture. My favourite desserts were the sorbet (top left photo) and the macaroons (bottom left photo). I had to pick two because I couldn't really decide which one was better! The sorbet was our last dish on the menu, we were already really full at that time but the lime and mango sorbet made our tummies felt much better. The macaroons were not particularly special in texture, but it has a lavender flavour which I have never tried before, it will rank the same as the Rose flavoured macaroon from Laduree!

The service was good and typical for such expensive restaurants, but what surprised me was when the waiter handed us a box of doughnuts for breakfast the next morning whilst we were taking our coats! This was a really smart idea because it left us thinking about the restaurant even till the next morning- and the doughnuts were a taste of both sweet and sour!

Certain dishes from the Alain Ducasse Tasting Menu

Overall, the date night was delightful and I enjoyed every moment of it: from picking the outfits to actually having the dinner. I hope this would inspire someone regarding what to wear or where to go for a celebration date!

Lots of Love,
Nat
